Can you explain the booking process?

Four steps: you send us your details, we call to scope the job, we email a written confirmation, and we stay in touch until moving day.

Information submittal. Reach us through our website, by phone, or via one of our broker partners. Either way we'll get back to you as soon as your details land.

Phone consultation. We go over the exact scope and logistics so there are no surprises on either side, and so you get a realistic estimate of duration and cost.

Confirmation email. Written confirmation with everything you need, so both sides have a record of the appointment.

Continued contact. We call the day before to confirm, and again on moving day when the team is on their way.

Is there anything your team will not transport?

Yes. By law and by company policy, we can't move the following:

  • Flammable or explosive materials (paint, gasoline, propane)
  • Pets and plants
  • Air tanks or compressed gases of any kind
  • Cash and high-value jewelry
  • Drugs
  • Cleaning chemicals
  • Perishable food, and refrigerators with food still inside
  • Uncrated stone countertops or valuable stone pieces

What can I do to make the move as efficient as possible?

How prepared you are is the single biggest factor in your final bill, and the one thing outside our control. Before the crew arrives:

  • Make sure all boxes are completely packed and sealed
  • Consolidate loose items as much as possible
  • Empty all furniture, drawers, and refrigerators
  • Leave a clear pathway so the crew can reach items as they need them
  • Secure small children and pets
  • Set aside anything we can't transport, or that you'd rather carry yourself

When does the hourly rate start and finish?

The clock starts when the team arrives and stops when the last item is placed in your home. You are not billed for drive time at either end.

Most companies charge "port to port," meaning the hourly rate begins the moment the crew is en route and the return drive gets added to your bill. We don't think that's right — you're not getting value while the truck drives back. Our crews still need to be paid for their time, so instead we charge one flat trip charge, usually $60 for local moves.

Should I empty my dressers, nightstands, and desks?

Yes. We ask that you remove the contents of all furniture before moving day, for our crew's safety and for the survival of the furniture itself.

Some pieces are already extremely heavy, and a loaded dresser can become dangerous to lift. Furniture also isn't built to be transported full — joints and drawer slides give out under the weight. If the contents aren't removed, we can't be held liable for the resulting damage.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we're fully insured for every aspect of your move. You can verify this yourself, and we recommend doing it for any moving company you're considering.

How much do local movers charge per hour in Austin?

Local movers in Austin typically charge between $100 and $180 per hour for a two-person crew, with rates varying based on crew size, move complexity, and time of year.

Rates depend on factors like crew size, move complexity, distance, and seasonal demand — with summer months typically commanding higher prices.

What is the cheapest day to hire movers in Austin?

Weekdays in the middle of the month — particularly Tuesday through Thursday — are typically the cheapest days, since demand is lower than on weekends and at month-end.

Consider scheduling during fall or winter for additional savings. Request a quote and we'll show you the difference between dates.

Will the team hang my TVs and wall art?

No. Our movers aren't permitted to drill into walls at any point — it's a liability risk we can't take on.

A handyman handles this quickly, and we're happy to recommend one of the pre-approved suppliers we work with. Just ask your crew lead or give us a call.

Should I tip my movers?

Tipping is never required, but it's always appreciated. We pay our crews well, so treat a tip as a bonus for outstanding work rather than an expectation.

No extra cash but happy with the job? Write a review instead. It costs nothing and helps keep the crew busy.

What happens if something is damaged?

If something arrives damaged, we make it right. Our crews are required to tell you about any damage immediately and take responsibility for it.

Full details are in our damage policy and guarantee.

What furniture is not worth moving in Austin?

Bulky, low-value items like worn mattresses, particle board furniture, old CRT televisions, and broken appliances often cost more to move than they're worth replacing.

Because local moves are billed hourly, the labor to wrap and haul them usually exceeds the cost of buying them again.

What should I not let movers pack?

Keep jewelry, important documents, medications, cash, and irreplaceable personal items with you rather than loading them on the truck. We'll give you the full restricted list when you book.

Can I help the crew with the move?

You can do as much or as little as you'd like. The one thing we ask is that you stay off the truck and the truck ramp — the crew will gladly hand items down to you to carry in.

Can I ride in the truck with the movers?

No. Commercial auto insurance doesn't allow unauthorized passengers in our work trucks, so you'll need to travel to the destination separately.

Will you disassemble and reassemble my beds?

Yes. Our teams disassemble and reassemble beds every day and are happy to handle it as part of your move.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, credit, and Venmo. We prefer cash or Venmo, since card payments carry a 3% processing fee that we currently pass on to customers.

What's the best way to tip the movers?

Cash, Venmo, or Cash App go directly to the crew and are the best options. You can also tip on a card, though it's not preferred.
